OUR EDUCATIONAL PHILOSOPHY

We believe that all youth CAN learn and WANT to learn. Everything we do in the YouthNet Academic Program is centered around that basic principle. For a variety of reasons, youth with academic difficulties (bad grades, truancy, suspensions, expulsions) are marginalized and neglected. Our purpose is to support these youth and ensure that they get back on the road to graduation from high school before the age of 19. Through intensive formal academic for-credit semester courses in a variety of subjects to small group tutoring, one-on-one academic counseling sessions, parent conferences, effective advocacy and partnership with school and juvenile authorities, the YouthNet Academic Program staff ensure that the participant receives recognition, overcomes obstacles and sees measurable achievements in their goal to graduate successfully, be it from a regular or “night” or adult school. Since 1997, we have an unparalleled and publicly well-documented success rate in the areas of High School Graduation, Pregnancy Prevention, Juvenile Rehabilitation and Life Satisfaction among our graduates and participants.
